Aura E. King is a writer based in Halifax, Canada, who is currently studying for her second degree in philosophy at Dalhousie University. Born in Montreal, she studied dance at an early age before beginning her academic pursuits, which included theology and comparative religion. In 2002, she was selected as a resident scholar at the Pemberley International Study Centre in Haputale, Sri Lanka. There she completed her fourth novel in the romantic ‘Aura’ series, which concerns a lifelong relationship between a Sri Lankan man and the girl he falls in love with at university. Taking care of Aura , the first novel in the series, was published in October 2003 and launched in the aftermath of a devastating hurricane. Her second novel, Erato, was published in May 2004. A departure from the romantic flavour of Aura, Erato explores the transcendence of art through the friendship between an art critic, an erotic photographer, and the woman they deem their muse. Erato weaves literary genre with the sensual photo art of Halifax photographer Scott Munn. Very keen on sailing (especially in warm Bermudian waters), Aura has recently completed her White Sail, and dances with Halifax Dance when she is not writing. She looks forward to returning to Sri Lanka in the future. A. E. King can be contacted through her website at www.auraking.com. |
